We really enjoyed this book. It is a lyrical story about a girl who looks back through her family tree as she ponders the future. She thinks of Great-Grandpap the mailman, Great-Grandma the housewife, Grandpa the preacher, Grandma the teacher, and many more.
While she ponders each family member, she is intrigued not so much by what they did, but by what they stood for. Nothing was more important than family for Great-Grandpap. Great-Grandma helped break color lines. Grandpa always reminded people of the Golden Rule. While reaching back into her family tree, the girl questions, “who will I be, Lord” and concludes “I guess like Mama says, it’s up to me.” Read more >>
