I Have a Dream
Written by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Illustrated by Various Artists
In all the picture books about Martin Luther King, Jr, this has to be my absolute favorite. While the forward is written by his wife, Coretta Scott King, the book itself are the words of Dr. King that were spoken on August 28, 1963 at the March on Washington. I absolutely love how each of the pages depict a portion of this famous speech, featuring the artwork of one of fifteen Coretta Scott King Award and Honor Book Artists. I love seeing each artist’s own interpretation and style portrayed along with the memorable words of Dr. King.
The featured illusrators are Ashley Bryan, Carole Byard, Wil Clay, Floyd Cooper, Pat Cummings, Leo and Diane Dillon, Tom Feelings, George Ford, Jan Spivey Gilchrist, Brian Pinkney, Jerry Pinkney, James E. Ransome, Terea Shaffer, and Kathleen Atkins Wilson. Read more >>
