As a parent, I have a special affinity for books about twins – because I have two sets. Yep, two sets of twin boys! So, naturally, I was thrilled to discover another book all about twins, Twin Power, by doctors (and parents of a set of twins), Benjamin & Kiyanda Young!
Sebastian and Simone are more than just siblings – they’re twins! And, being twins means that you always a have a partner. Sebastian and Simone show all of the things they can do utilizing their greatest strength – twin power!
Twin power is all about working together and helping one another and we get to witness Sebastian and Simone’s twin power all throughout the book. From sharing toys and playing together to lending a helping hand and cleaning up twice as fast!
As a parents of twins, I appreciate that the book explains the difference between identical and fraternal twins in a way that is understandable by children! As an educator, I love that the book incorporates reading comprehension questions. It’s great having guided question to see what the child remembers from the story! And, to top it off, there are coloring pages included as well!

This non-profit children’s literacy initiative was founded by Valarie Budayr and Mia Wenjen; two diverse book-loving moms who saw a need to shine the spotlight on all of the multicultural books and authors on the market while also working to get those books into the hands of young readers and educators.
