The Truth About Mrs. Claus
Written by Meena Harris
Illustrated by Keisha Morris
Amalia is from a long line of bear-making elves. However, she’s not sure she’s meant to make bears. Needing advice on her predicament, Amalia seeks the help of the only person she thinks can help – Santa. However, she finds Mrs. Claus instead. Mrs. Claus tells Amalia a story about her own experience with overcoming discontentment and discovering her passion.
When Sara B. Claus first arrived at the North Pole, all she did was bake cookies. But, she wanted to do more. Mrs. Claus soon discovered that she loved all the details involved in making sure Christmas and the North Pole ran as smoothly as possible. From providing materials to make each toy to driving and fixing Santa’s sleigh! Little did people know that it’s not Santa and the elves who run Christmas. It’s Mrs. Claus!
Amalia, unaware of Mrs. Claus’ secret, is encouraged to find what she loves to do, even if it’s not necessarily what she thinks she should do. Amalia realizes that she loves storytelling. She not only finds a way to use that passion as a teddy-bear maker elf, but she goes on to tell a very special story unknown to most – the true story of Mrs. Claus.
I absolutely love this book! I especially appreciate that while it encourages readers to find what they love to do, it’s not at the expense of what they need to do. Discover your passion and find a way to incorporate that passion into what is already required of you! What a great life lesson! Read more >>
