Learn more about the life of artist and activist, Faith Ringgold. From being bedridden as a child with severe asthma, painting on a small easel while propped up on pillows to having her artwork displayed in hundreds of exhibits across the world. I was most intrigued to learn about how Ringgold transitioned from painting beautiful landscapes, plants, and flowers to politically-inspired works of art.
Plus, I enjoyed learning about how she began incorporating text into her artwork and exploring various different mediums (masks and quilts) to express herself and share her story artistically.
The book encourages others to follow Ringgold by observing and creating art based on what you see (and don’t see) while also urging them to find a cause they are passionate about and working to make a change. Read more >>
